Education for Ministry

Education for Ministry

affectionately known as EFM, is a program of theological education-at-a-distance of the School of Theology of the University of the South.

Participants sign up one year at a time for this four-year program.

E f M covers the basics of a theological education in: Year 1, the Old Testament, Year 2 New Testament, Year 3 Church history, and Year 4 Liturgy and theology using textbooks as the "instructor." Participants meet regularly at St. John's, usually once a week, in seminars under the guidance of trained mentors. All four “class years” meet together as one group to share insights, support, questions, doubts and challenges, and build friendships with the other participants.

Enrollment is open to the community. The program grants a certificate at the completion of the four years upon 80% attendance of weekly seminars each year and 18 Continuing Education Units for each year's work.

The cost is $375.00/year. Terms run from September to May. Scholarships and financial assistance is available upon request. Sign up now to join class starting in September.  Tenroll or ask questions, contact Jeannie McCabe, the St. John’s Mentor at 479-221-4032 or jmccabe@stjohnfs.org
